Burning Permits ________________________________________
Any person setting an open-air fire in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand shall be responsible for any damage to property or injury to persons occasioned by the said open air fire, and; be liable for all costs incurred by the Fire Department of the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand, including the costs of all personnel, equipment and apparatus responding to extinguish the said open-air fire. In addition to the costs above, a fine will be levied to the person responsible up to $5,000.00 under the Provincial Offenses Act, (Ontario). Any person who is planning a controlled fire must have a current burn permit as required by By-Law #113-2016. The Township of Alnwick/Haldimand requires burn permits for open-air fires under the Open Air Burning By-law.
Apply for a burn permitIf you are a property owner, you can apply for a burn permit. Tenants need to contact a landlord for permission for a burn permit. You can get your burn permit either:
Standard Burn Permit $30.00
Campground Permit $60.00
Special Burn Permit $60.00

The Township of Alnwick/Haldimand has three district area Volunteer Fire Stations to provide fire protection services to the residents and visitors of the municipality. The Stations are located in Grafton, Centreton and Roseneath. The Alnwick/Haldimand Fire Rescue also provide Fire Protection Services to Alderville First Nation under the provisions of a mutually signed Agreement between the Band Council of Alderville First Nation and the Council of the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand. Mutual Aid Services are also provided by the Volunteer Fire Departments when required. Mutual Aid Services permits Alnwick/Haldimand Fire Rescue to provide assistance to or to obtain assistance from another participating municipality.
