Things you need to know about elections if you are interested in running:
- The voting methods for the 2018 Municipal Elections are via Internet or by Telephone.
- Nomination period is much shorter: nominations are now made between May 1 and July 27, 2018.
- The Municipal Elections Act now includes a framework for third party advertising. View our Third Party Advertiser Page for more info.
- There have been significant changes made to the rules regarding a candidate’s campaign contributions and expenses. It is the responsibility of the candidate to adhere to all applicable provisions of the Municipal Elections Act. - Anyone wishing to run for office (excluding school board Trustees) must submit the signatures of at least 25 eligible voters supporting the nomination by signing a declaration stating that they were eligible to vote in the municipality on the day that they signed.
